End of July 2013 Report: Still weeks away from being ripe.

I have been in the patch a lot lately, working on the irrigation system, which is very unnecessary this year.  We have been getting a lot of rain, over 4 inches in this past month. The berries got a very late start this year, probably 2-3 weeks behind the normal, because of how long winter hung on.  If I had to bet, I would anticipate an Aug. 17 opener.  It could be earlier, but I wouldn't bet on it. Most of the berries are still very pale green as of today, some have a hue of lavender.

Mid-July 2013 Status

Lots of berries have been appearing on the bushes and they seem like nicely populated clumps.  Still very green.  Everything is looking good.  Local strawberries were a week or two late this year, so anticipate a little later opening for blueberries, probably about mid August.  These pictures taken July 13.
