'Twas the Season 2014

Done. No more blueberries for 2014. What took 3.5 months to get ready, took less than 2 hours to dismantle and put away. Pickers, you did great. You harvested well and we are really pleased with your consideration of the property and facilities. BKGSH & BCSH staff and volunteers: hats off to your efforts for the fundraiser and to the work that you do all year! We want to also thank so much for those who worked the farm this year in advance of and during the picking season, starting with Ken Hinkel, Irene Corrales, Wendy Eisner, Heather Laich, Annika Gierke, Mike Gierke, and, lastly, Markus Penttinen (pictured above, taking down the last of the road signs last evening, October 12th). I hope that we are not forgetting to thank anyone else for this year's crop. We are looking forward to seeing everyone in 2015.

After taking down the road signs, we chased the last of the pickers off the patch. Done for the year! Don't come back, little one, until you get a little bigger--and the 2015 berries are ripe...

Calling it a Season October 12th

Going to call it a season (closing) in the evening on Sunday, October 12th. Still berries to pick but the quality is diminished because most are over ripe. Hunt and pick, or peck--your druthers.
