Tentatively the Opener will be Saturday, July 31

I just did a walk through the patch this morning. Only a handful of bushes are completely ripe, about half are 50% and the other half have not yet started to show signs of ripening. I am going to go out on a limb and forecast that those that are mostly ripe will finish up before this weekend, so we will be anticipating that as our opener for 2010. Keep checking the answering machine or this blog.

I saw at Facebook that you guys had posted my poem, "Blueberry." Thanks for the attention. I was sure the farm would be in NJ, but no you're way up in Michigan. As the poem says, the blueberry is the fruit of the state of NJ. I believe that we are the largest producers of blueberries in the US. The poem will be featured this Friday at a food blog called Alphabet Soup. It's been making the rounds and, I understand, has enhanced sales figures for the blueberry.
