We do not want to get your hopes up or jinx the ripening, but we are excited to report that the crop seems to be especially abundant this year. Strawberry picking at the neighbor's farm was at least a week earlier than normal, so hopefully this is an indication that this year we will open closer to the beginning of August. The early spring, warm temps, perfect conditions during blossom season for pollination, and satisfactory rainfall since all points to the potential for a great harvest season. I will update again after July 9th.
Gierke Blueberry Farm
John, Lynn, Genny, and Mike Gierke moved to a blueberry farm in Klingville, MI, in July 2005. In addition to maintaining the conditions that yield literally tons of blueberries, we also raise small animals for fun, food, and market.
