Soon the 2012 Season will be a Foggy Memory

The 2012 Blueberry Season in Klingville was one for the record books. It was a blueberry jungle out there in August, with bushes overtaking our outbuildings and berries in an abundance that has never been seen here before. We are sure grateful for the alignment of conditions that led to this amazing year. We are also grateful to all who participated in the picking. It was a great year. We just broke 20,000 lbs picked some time in the afternoon of Labor Day, 5 weeks and 2 days after we opened. This is twice of any of our previous banner crop years.

We are closing the "open picking" and have taken down the road signs and placed a small barricade just before the pig pen. The remaining picking will be "by appointment," which means we ask that you let us know when you will venturing in and that you park in the little parking area on the left after passing the birch trees. It is time for us to get on with fall season field work and so there will be a lot of "tractoring" and chainsawing going on in the evenings. No further reports of conditions will be provided, it will be hit or miss here on out. We are planning to close completely on Friday, September 21.
